Magical Musings Monday

Life is a grand reason for celebration.

campfire-beachAs a US  nation, we recently celebrated our Independence and the birth of America. As we move deeper into summer, we often find reasons to gather together to celebrate good times, long weekends, and get-away vacations.

It’s human nature to want to celebrate our good times, like weddings, babies, promotions and anniversaries. That usually means a party, which can be anything from an over-the-top elaborate wedding to just meeting with friends for drinks or dinner after work. Think of all the romantic connections that have been made at parties, especially weddings.

Parties just naturally create an atmosphere for creative connections.

How many times have we heard someone say they met at a party, and it just clicked from there?  Being at a party puts us in the mood to have a good time and gives us a reason to open up to meeting new people. After all, one of the reasons why we go to parties is to meet people, old friends and new.

When we keep our eyes and our hearts open, life sends us the most delicious adventures. Sometimes, if we’re lucky and the stars are aligned, we meet that certain someone who makes our toes curl.

Aren’t we lucky life gives us so many reasons to party?

Cheers and Happy New Year

Well, we’ve all gotten through the Christmas season, some of us better than others, and are on to the new year. Let’s hope 2018 is far, far better than 2017. Even if your 2017 was good, we can always hope for better.  Not that my 2017 was bad. Actually, as a writer, I would say it was one of my best.

booksigning

Allow me to recap 2017.

I re-edited, re-packaged, and re-released my first three books of my MacNicol Clan series and added a new, never before released before prequel. This included getting shiny, new covers done by the Killion Group and re-branding the series.
The MacNicol Clan Through Time series:
Book 1 – A Time to Begin (the new prequel)
Book 2 – A Time To Return  (formerly: Return In Time)
Book 3 – A Time To Belong (formerly: Somewhere To Belong)
Book 4 – A Time To Forgive  (formerly: Away Over-Yonder)

I also released a new Jules Vanderzeit Gilded Age novel, Until You Love Me, which is one of my favorites. (Note of honesty: everyone of my books is one of my favorites.)

And at the end of December, I finished writing my next Jules Vanderzeit Gilded Age novel, Until She Says Yes. This is so new, I haven’t even blogged about it yet. I’ve been too busy writing it! So you’re hearing about it here first. I plan to release this book in mid 2018. I’ve just sent it off to my wonderful editor and have a beta reader looking it over to give me her perspective. As an author, this is all very exciting.

OUTSIDE of writing, I’ve put in more hours as a tour guide/event assistant in the San Francisco Bay area. I love this semi-retirement/part-time job. It gets me out of the house and I get to hang with some really fun people who are out having a really great time. Not a bad gig.

So even if the economic and political landscape hasn’t been all roses and peach blossoms, I won’t complain. Mostly, because I think folks don’t like to hear anyone complain, and I especially don’t like to hear myself complain. I’d much rather smile, and keep on laughing. As I say on my tours: Bring the happy with you.

Cheers to a truly Happy New Year. May you enjoy always. T

Big Six O

Today I hit the Big Six O, as in 60, as in half-a-century-plus-a-decade, as in 50 + 10. Regardless, it all adds up to lots of years. I suppose I shouldn’t reveal my age, but it’s kinda hard to pretend this Bday isn’t happening.

Not that I mind. I was born to be alive, and I’m still here, so I must be doing something right. Or maybe I’m just not done yet. I’m feeling pretty good about hitting this landmine, urr, I mean benchmark.

Hitting a new decade seems like a good time to look back and look forward. I looked back at the early days of this web site and noticed that for several months, I published new blog posts about twice a week. How ambitious of me. Eventually, that slowed to twice a month, and lately it’s been a bad case of whenever. I’m not thinking of doing the twice a week thing again, but maybe I can do twice a month.

Anyway, I have some big plans in the works that I’m looking forward to. There’s a New book to release, and a few older ones to Re-release since the original publisher, like so many other small indie-publishers, has gone out of business. I will keep you informed on this plans as they move forward.

For now, I just wanted to say, Hey, I’m still here, and feeling good. Life is good, and I am blessed.

Enjoy always, T

Holidays and Gratitude.

Thanksgiving may have come and gone, but I am still in the mood to be thankful.

One of the Biggest things I am thankful for – besides all the usual personal stuff like family, health and well-being – is that we, as a community of people here on this Earth, take time to honor Thanksgiving. It may be celebrated on different days and in different ways in other countries, but there’s this global ideal of giving thanks.

It warms my heart and soul to think how we actually set aside a day to gather together in gratitude and GIVE THANKS. We open our hearts and homes to share in acknowledging our blessings, and often to share with others who have less.

What am I grateful for? I am grateful for Thanksgiving.

And then, as if that’s not enough, we follow up Thanksgiving with a whole season of giving and receiving. The very act of giving and receiving is a blessing to both the giver and the receiver.  So let’s celebrate December and the holiday season, filled with lights and joy and good will toward our fellow man and woman.

Love, life and blessings to you all.   Enjoy Always,  T

Wonderfully Supportive.

On Veterans Day, a day when we stop to remember all the good and noble people who have served the U.S. in the armed forces, I am very thankful for all of us who support each other in our daily endeavors. BTW, I served in the Navy four years active and two years reserve, and am a certifiable vet. Thanks, it was my pleasure.

Today is the Veterans Day holiday observed in the US, and since I work for a bank, I have the day off. I have been using my morning to cruise the internet for fellow bloggers, authors, writers services, cover designs and artists, blogs, etc, you name it. I gave myself this little block of playtime as I usually find there’s way too much stuff to look at in my limited time allotted, and today of course is no different. I could cruise for hours and only see a smidgen of what’s out there. (oh wait, that is exactly what I’ve been doing.) I have a number of blog buddies, but it’s hard to find the time to read all of their wonderful posts. I LEA them all. (LEA = like, enjoy, appreciate)

But, with all that said, what I really want to say is how wonderfully supportive everyone is to each other (more often then not). For the most part, we tend to love life, and life loves us back.

Now, isn’t that Grand and Glorious on a major scale?

God bless us humans, we really have it going on.

Enough said, Enjoy Always.  T

BTW, will be back soon with more ABC’s of Romance. Hope you’ve enjoyed reading them as much as I have writing them. It’s been such fun.
