Romance by the letter A.
Remember Sesame Street. Well…. Today’s romance post is brought to by the letter A.
With romance on my mind, let’s look at a few random romantic words that start with the letter A.
The letter A seems like an obvious choice. After all, it includes such romantic giants as Amorous, Adore and Arouse. What a nice trio.
Amorous, which my little Webster pocket dictionary defines as (1) fond of making love, or (2) full of love. Both sound good to me. And I have to say I’d rather be full of love than full of a lot of other things I can think of, including baked beans. As much as I like bake beans, being full of them is definitely not a good romantic idea.
And of course, any good romantic Adores being Aroused.
Okay, moving right along, there’s always Affair, as in a romantic Affair. Let’s just hope it doesn’t include breaking any marriage vows.
And then there’s Agony. As wonderful as romance is – it does seem to have the ability to cause great Agony as people Agonize over their beloved. Agony, Angst, Agonize. All part of strong, tragic romance.
How about Ambrosia, the food of the gods. If I was out on a hot date, I would think Ambrosia would be a good thing to order, if I could only find a restaurant that has it on the menu. If anyone out there has a good simple recipe for Ambrosia, please tell the Cheesecake Factory, because they make just about everything and I love eating there. Nice and yummy.
Not to be left out of any self-respecting A list is Anatomy – which is the study of the human body, the huMAN body. Yes, one of my favorite classes at romance school.
Also, Anniversaries are usually considered romantic, except when someone forgets. But if you can keep your calendar reminders updated and current – you’re golden. Keep the Anniversaries dates and be sure to serve Ambrosia. Sounds like a good time to me.
And now I will leave you with one more A word – - - Appendage. Let your imagination do the rest.
Love you all. Enjoy always, T
I LEA the Spring Equinox.
Today is the first day of spring, the vernal equinox, when daylight and dark are in balance. What a glorious marking of time, to be in balance. Tipping from winter into spring. Breath deep, you can feel the freshness blowing through the air.
To mark this special time, I have another LEA list. LEA for anyone who may not know, means to Like, Enjoy, and Appreciate. I could say I love these things, but I’d like to reserve Love for the bigger things in life, like my two amazing children or my beau, who really is my Lover…
Anyway, allow me to present my Spring Equinox LEA List.
I LEA daffodils. I could almost say I love them; they’re so pretty and bright. They’re such a great color of yellow, so sunny and bright, just perfect for spring time. And such a blessing the way they make their appearance every year around this time. Yes, I LEA daffodils.
I LEA a good cup of fragrant tea, freshly brewed and served in a pretty tea cup. When I was growing up my Mother had a collection of pretty little tea cups that she passed on to me. I still like, enjoy and appreciate the idea of taking a moment to really enjoy a good cup of tea. With just a splash of cream, if you please.
I LEA the way it’s still light out when I leave work at the end of the day and when I get home (if I leave on time!) After spending months going home in the dark, it’s nice to see the green hills in the east glowing in the fading sunlight as the sun sets in the west.
I LEA other people’s blogs, especially the ones that make me laugh or even just put a smile on my face. Or even the ones that make me think a new thought. It’s all grand and I am grateful.
These are just a few thing I lea. I wouldn’t go so far as to say I love these things. Certainly not the way I love my stellar, beautiful, smart kids or my handsome and charming beau, so I believe lea is the more appropriate term to use here.
But most of all, I lea you, because you’re here. You’re here and you took the time to read my blog, so most of all, I lea you. Thanks for making my list. Enjoy always, T
I lea this list.
In my local newspaper they used to run a regular column called: I love it… I hate it. (They may still run the column but I no longer get that paper so I don’t know.) I like the idea of doing an; I love it list. I do NOT want to do an; I hate it list. Why bother? And I really like the idea of doing a LEA list, because while I may not love all the things that make my list I certainly lea (like, enjoy, appreciate) them. For those of you who may have missed it – this explains LEA.
Here is my fist LEA list of 2012. It may also be my last – who knows – but I do know it’s my first.
I lea my morning cup of coffee. Usually I drink it at work and usually not more than one cup. Unless I’m at a breakfast diner, like Denny’s or IHop, because their coffee cups are so small compared to my regular 20oz cup.
I lea pens that write soft and fine, like the one I used to write the draft for this blog. A pen that writes soft is one where I don’t have to press down hard to get the ink to flow. Flowing ink, like flowing words, is very important to me when I’m writing, as opposed to typing, and then the ink doesn’t matter because it’s not really there.
I lea lists that have more than two things listed because two things doesn’t really seem like a list at all; it just seems like a couple of things. But three things, well now we’re talking.
I lea other people’s funny blogs that make me laugh or even just put a smile on my face. I’m not a big fan of serious blogs, they tend to be too depressing. Kind of like I hate lists. I mean really, why bother. But hey, whatever works for you. (I don’t want to get on anyone’s hate list!)
I lea romance. Of course, that’s why I write about romance. I lea a good relationship and a happily ever after.
Writers without readers are like that tree falling in the forest with no one around. The potentical for sound is there but no one’s listening – or in the case of a writer – reading. Thanks for making my list.
Enjoy always, T
Cheers, May you LEA the New Year, 2012.
Not a very original blog title. Happy New Year and welcome 2012. Bring it on. I’ve heard all about how this is going to be the BIG one. This will either be the year of doom and gloom or it’ll be one of great, glorious, amazing comic changes that will blow our minds. Whatever!
It’s only the first week of the year, so it’s a bit early to be worried about what may happen all the way in December. So I won’t. I’ve have other things on my mind, like taking down the Christmas decorations because this was the only weekend I was going to have until the end of January. And that’s just a little too long to watch the pine needles drop onto the carpet.
I was also thinking about the word ‘love’ and how much we use and perhaps abuse that word. I’m not talking about when we say I Love you to someone special. I don’t believe we can ever say that too often, unless you exceed 122 times in one day. That might qualify as excessive.
In this case I’m thinking of when I hear someone say something along the lines of “I love this wine,” or “I’d love to have pasta for dinner.” I’m thinking what they really mean is something closer to they would ‘like, enjoy and appreciate’ having pasta for dinner.Or maybe they ‘like, enjoy and appreciate’ the wine they’re getting drunk on drinking. So in a desire to bring better understanding to our conversation, when we really ‘like, enjoy and/or appreciate’ something I’m suggesting we use the word ‘lea’. It’s kind of like LOL, laughing out loud, but unlike LOL, lea is actually a word that you can pronounce.
So, did you lea the holidays? I hope they were everything you hoped they would be. I’d really lea hearing about them.
Well, I’ll give it a try and see how it goes. A new year, a new word. Sounds good to me. Every new word had to start somewhere. Maybe lea can start here. How grand would that be? I would lea that!
Happy New Year and Enjoy always, T
